I Tried The $30 Earbuds Everyone Says Are Better Than AirPods — Here’s The Honest Truth

Every few months, the internet decides it has found a cheaper product that can “replace” Apple AirPods.
And usually? It’s… not quite true.
But lately, a pair of $30 wireless earbuds has been going viral, with people claiming they sound just as good, last just as long, and cost a fraction of the price. So naturally, I had to see if the hype was real — or just another TikTok moment.
First impressions: they look surprisingly decent. Not luxury-level design, but definitely not “cheap plastic disappointment” either. Pairing them was quick, and they connected easily to my phone without any weird setup issues.
Now, the real question: sound quality.
Honestly? Better than expected.
The bass is solid, vocals are clear, and for casual listening — music, podcasts, YouTube — they absolutely get the job done. Are they on the same level as AirPods? Not quite. AirPods still feel more balanced and polished overall. But for $30… the gap is way smaller than you’d think.
Battery life was another surprise. These held up well through several hours of use, and while they don’t beat premium earbuds, they didn’t feel like a downgrade either.
Where you start to notice the difference is in the extras.
Features like active noise cancellation, seamless device switching, and that “just works perfectly every time” Apple ecosystem magic? Yeah — that’s still very much an AirPods thing.
The fit can also be hit or miss depending on your ears, and the build quality, while decent, doesn’t feel like it’ll survive years of heavy use.
So… are people really “abandoning” AirPods?
Not exactly.
But if you’re looking for something affordable that covers the basics surprisingly well, these budget earbuds are actually worth considering.
Because sometimes, “good enough” at $30 feels a lot better than “perfect” at $200.
